Young persons car insurance

When a teenager gets their drivers license they need to have car insurance just like the rest of us. In spite of what everyone thinks young person’s car insurance premiums do not have to be through the roof. There are many ways insurance companies will discount or lower the young driver’s insurance premiums. All young drivers need to take a good driver education course even if the state you live in doesn’t require it. Do it anyway. Your insurance bills will be lowered a lot if a driver education course and a defensive driving course is taken even if not required. As an example it would be a good idea that even though a parent is an experienced driver, they should take the driver education and defensive driving course with their young person. Older experienced drivers are usually able to get better insurance discounts but young drivers can get them as well.

One way for young person’s car insurance to qualify for discounts is to work hard to get the good student discount. A good student discount is based on the student maintaining a specific grade point average every semester. Maintaining a good grade point average benefits the young person two fold, good grades mean good colleges will accept them. Also, it is viewed that if a child is responsible in other areas of their life such as school then it stands to reason they will likely be more responsible drivers and get fewer if any tickets and not be involved in as many accidents. Have your young driver help pay for their insurance premiums. If they understand that their premiums are based on their safe driving habits they will probably be more responsible behind the wheel. They need to understand that if they get tickets or are in accidents their insurance premiums will go up which means they will have to pay more and have less money to spend on other things they enjoy doing.

Young person’s insurance can be reasonable just get your teen driver the right drivers education, teach them responsibility, encourage them to maintain good grade point averages, and most of all teach them to be a good driver by being a good responsible driver yourself. Don’t tailgate, speed, or drive recklessly. Be a responsible a driver and your teen will have a better chance at being a good defensive responsible driver too. Keep your young person’s car insurance rates to a minimum.
