Sound reduction is a critical design factor with any exhaust system. Standard manufacturer replacement exhausts use a baffled design where a series of baffle plates slow the exhaust gases, but this leads to an increase in back pressure. Replacement high performance gas flow silencers have no baffles. Instead, noise is reduced by absorption through a centre perforated tube.
