Japanese car importers
Car importers from Japan ( sometimes referred to as jap car importers!) have been around for some time. The attraction for us in the UK of these imports or “grey” cars is they are generally in excellent condition with low mileage - average yearly mileage in Japan is less than 5K and no salt or grit on the roads, low second hand prices and plenty of availablility!
The most popular type of car imports are the high performance cars such as Nissan Skyline, Subaru Impreza, Mitsibushi Evo and Gallant VR4, Toyota Supra’s and Celica’s etc. However there is a market in other Japanese models particularly those which were never sold in the UK marketplace for one reason or another.
Most car importers will take care of all the neccessary procedures required to make a Japanese car road legal in the UK, however as the buyer you should always be aware of the legislation regarding importing cars into the UK. In addition to the well known Jap import models such as the Mitsubishi FTO, Shogun/Pajero, Lancer Evo, the Subaru Impreza, the Toyota Celica, Lancruiser/Surf and Colorado/Prada, there are also less known models such as Isuzu Bighorn, Nissan Figaro, Toyota Lucida, Subaru Legacy B4 RSK twin turbo, Nissan Fairlady and Toyota hi-ace camper.
